Classroom Tour
Hi friends!
It is officially back to school time! Time flies when it’s summer! This will be my 4th year teaching 1st grade! I love 1st grade because the kids are not as baby-ish as kindergartners, they are a little more independent but they are still at that sweet loving stage and just want to please you. (well most of the time ;). First grade is also such a rewarding year because you see so much academic GROWTH in the kids from the beginning of the year to the end. They go from barely reading a few words to reading entire books and it’s so neat to be able to be apart of teaching them how to read! Their personalities and identities really develop during the year too and I just love it! I’ve had a few requests to give a tour of my classroom so here it is! I don’t really have a theme, it’s just mostly turquoise with pops of color! I like to have a lot of lamps and lights in my room to give it a cozy/homey feel. What was your favorite grade or best memory about school when you were little?
My husband made my tree for me and it is my favorite thing about my room! I made the READ sign myself using the paper machè letters from Michaels.

My students LOVE these rockers. We use them during centers for read to self. I use the rainbow cart to organize my word work.
I use this hanging shoe rack for headphone storage!

Wow! The environment in this classroom is so encouraging! I love what you did here. If I was one of your students, I’d give you a big hug for doing this. We need more like you!
